The Government Affairs Committee is responsible
for reviewing public policy initiatives and issues which affect or
enhance the downtown area as well as downtowns across the state. We act
as an advocate for downtown interests by making recommendations through
the leadership of organizations, the downtown business community, the
City of St. Louis, and the Missouri Downtown Association. We
have successfully defended the Missouri Historic Preservation Tax
Credit program and will continue to defend this program which has been
the driving force behind development of buildings across the state. We
supported and advocated the development of a new baseball stadium and
ballpark village in downtown St. Louis. In addition, we have endorsed
the Missouri Downtown Stimulus Act, an initiative for an additional
financing mechanism for larger development projects that will not cost
the state any money. To review the Downtown Partnership's 2008 Policy Priorities Legislative Agenda, click here.
