Not So Quiet! Just Us aka Old School Trio

One of the best things about when you come to see a concert at the library is that you just might see your friends or people from the neighborhood on our stage making their dreams come true.

The St Louis Public Library is proud to present “JUST US” A/K/A “OLD SCHOOL TRIO” BAND on March 16 for one night only at the Central Library, 1301 Olive Street. Doors open to the auditorium at 7 pm and the show won’t stop until 9 pm.

ROSETTA BLAINE

This magnificent, extremely talented songstress (“Justice”) has performed & wowed audiences for years performing at the Blues Museum, BB’s downtown, Club Diamond, The Top Shelf, The Lion’s Den, Anguarrd, sang on I-Radio for fundraiser(s) on many occasions, making it readily apparent why she is in so much demand.

COURTLAND AKERS

This former trumpeter, now keyboardist/vocalist, formerly performed with a local group called, “Nite Life”. He has a beautifully melodic voice, is quite proficient in stage performance, has a superb ear for music arrangement(s) and harmonies which is a major reason why the band accomplishes its unique sound. His broad range of experience includes performances at The Ambassador, City Magic, Club Diamond, The Top Shelf, The Lion’s Den, The King of Soul Café, etc.

SHELBY HARRIS

This musician/vocalist, mainly on saxophone, originally performed with the group, “The Black Image”, later joined by five singers called “The Fifth Movement”, and together, twice opened up for the “Chi-Lites”. Later, he would sit in with “Carlos Santana”, Chicagoans “Son Seals” & “Mighty Joe Young”, and on drums with the late “Meatloaf” introduced to him by “Vixen”. Joining the “James Family”, he opened up for the likes of “Smokey Robinson”, “Tyrone Davis”, “Fazio”, etc., and later, performed with “Luther Ingram”.

JAMES D. SMITH

This talented percussionist opened up for the “Dramatics” at Kiel Auditorium, “Shirley Brown” at the Fox Theatre while performing with the group, “Velvet Rose”, & appeared on Channel 30 where he met “Ike and Tina Turner”. While with “Velvet Rose”, he performed live on the radio station “KATZ“ & while with “Black Potion Band”, opened for “Oliver Sain” & “Albert King”, performed at Coleman’s Plaza, Club Misty, Beulah’s Lounge and others.

No tickets required; all seating is first come – first served. Doors to the Auditorium will open at 7 pm and the show is from 7:30 until 9 pm. That is a 90 solid minutes of great music and it is all yours for FREE!
