Beginning on Monday, April 18th, all MetroBus routes serving the Civic Center Transit Center will be relocated to Clark Avenue and 18th Street near the Union Station MetroLink Station. MetroBus riders will access MetroBus routes at designated locations on Clark Avenue or 18th Street near Union Station.
These MetroBus routes will be relocated for the next 14-18 months to accommodate construction from the Civic Center Expansion Project.
Earlier this year, Metro partnered with the City of St. Louis to make passenger improvements to these temporary bus waiting areas along 18th Street and Clark Avenue by putting in new sidewalks, benches, shelters and safety fences. The eastern entrance to the Union Station MetroLink Station from Clark Avenue has also been updated for improved access to the platform.
The Civic Center MetroLink Station is intended to stay open during the construction process, but temporary station closures may be necessary. In those instances, MetroLink riders and the public will receive notice in advance about the planned station closures.
The expansion of the Civic Center Transit Center will allow it to accommodate more buses and provide passengers with new amenities and features, including public restrooms, an indoor waiting area, concessions, digital arrival-time boards, and a Metro Public Safety substation. The new center is also being constructed so that it can serve 60-foot articulated buses and electric buses.
