Join Me in Downtown for Spring Training!

Ok, people…the official start of Spring is a mere two weeks away! This is what we’ve been waiting for—Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday, the weather is going to warm up next week and the Cardinals Home Opener is just five weeks away!

Now is the perfect time for those of us who have faltered a bit on that Get-Fit-and-Stay-That-Way New Year’s resolution, to join our Boys in Red for a little Spring Training. No need to book a flight to Jupiter—we have plenty of fitness events in Downtown to get you in shape this spring.

Start things off  on March 14th with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade 5 mile run; a great event for everyone, even if you’re not Irish! stay fit blog

If you’re looking to work out those quads then why not try the Master the Met Stair climb that takes place on March 28th? Not only will you be helping yourself get into shape, but you will also be helping the American Lung Association by fundraising your climb to the top.

On March 29th, the Inaugural Boots and Badges 5k kicks off at Kiener Plaza. Help support police and firemen by registering for this run; proceeds benefit Backstoppers.

On April 12th the 2015 Go! St. Louis Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay will fill the streets of Downtown in stay fit blog 4celebration of their 15th anniversary. Check out the new courserunners cross the Eads and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. bridges for some awesome views of Downtown! If you aren’t up for the run, come down and support the thousands of runners who have been training all winter. They will appreciate your encouragement!

stay fit blog 5The Color Run comes back to town on April 18th. Join in on this fun run where the goal is to get as colorful as you can!

Are you a late riser? Then the Country Music 5k & 10k on April 25th is for you. This run starts at Union Station at 4pm and is followed by a concert headlined by Craig Morgan.

If you’re tired of the same old run every week, then why not switch it up for the Eads Bridge Duathlon on April 26th?! You start off by running 1.5 miles, then switch to cycling 10 miles, tstay fit blog 7hen back to running another 1.5 miles to finish the race. You could do this race solo, with 2 people, or with a team of 3!

Racing and Competing Aren’t Your Thing?  Try this instead…

stay fit blog 8The Urban Shark Group Ride takes place every Saturday at 7:30am. Meet at Urban Shark at 1009 Locust Street then ride the Riverfront Trail up to the Chain of Rocks Bridge and back. After the ride, (ends around 10:30) hang out with the group at Park Avenue Coffee and receive 20% off your order.

On Saturdays & Sundays at 8am and on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:30am (Fridays at 4pm beginning in April) take a tour of Downtown St. Louis on thestay fit blog 9 St. Louis Running Tour. Runners meet at Kiener Plaza 10 minutes prior to starting time. Registration is required but includes photos, a drink after the run, and an official St. Louis Running Tour t-shirt.
