Run for the Chocolate Street Impacts

This Saturday, neighboring Downtown St. Louis streets will be a little sweeter, as thousands race in the Run for the Chocolate 5K.

Bissinger’s Handcrafted Chocolatier will once again provide ample chocolate motivation for the annual Run for the Chocolate event. This marks the third year for the popular 5K run/walk with one new change. This year, the run will be on Valentine’s Day and participants will get to see Bissinger’s new Historic Chocolate Factory and Corporate Headquarters location where the race will officially begin and end.

Run for the Chocolate is produced by Big Shark Bicycle Company and attracts visitors and runners to Historic North Broadway and the Great Rivers Greenway North Riverfront Trail, just north of Laclede’s Landing. Athletes of all ages can race in their respective relationship status categories: Bachelor, Bachelorette, Off the Market Men, Off the Market Women, Happy Couples, Cougar or Manther. For those who do not like labels, the “It’s Complicated” category returns. T-Shirts for each category will show who is taken, who is available and who is undecided.

The lucky winners will receive an oversized Bissinger’s Chocolate Champagne Bottle and over 14 gift cards for Bissinger’s Chocolate will be awarded. The Grand Prize will be a private VIP Tour of Bissinger’s new historic 220,000 SF Chocolate Factory, personally led by Chief Chocolatier Dave Owens where he will give a behind-the-scenes look at the art and craft of making fine chocolate. To ensure proper chocolate nutrition, all participants will receive a Bissinger’s Chocolate Heart Lollipop and the course will feature chocolate tasting stations along the way for refueling. Post-race festivities will include a chocolate party at Bissinger’s and the opportunity to peruse the company’s new Chocolate Shoppe.

The Run for the Chocolate will showcase the extent to which an athlete will go for chocolate while inviting couples and singles alike to demonstrate their dedication to athletics, health, romance and…chocolate. For additional information and to register, visit
